MTRACT’s Collegial Circle Program provides teachers with structured time for reflection on classroom Involves shared decision making, voluntary participation, and commitment over Regular basis around a common goal, need, interest, or question. How about a collegial circle working with the Common Core?Ī Collegial Circle is a group of people who come together on a Teachers have conducted collegial circles in Inteactive SMART Board lessons, the writing process, the reading workshop, and I could go on and on. You veterans know what they’re all about but some of our newer teachers may not be aware that both inservice credit AND credit toward those 175 professional development hours needed for the State can be acquired through collegial circles. The other thing I wanted to talk to you about are collegial circles. I was looking at my calendar last weekend and was shocked to see that Thanksgiving is already here! How does that happen? I’m not ready! Oh well, I guess as with so many things in our lives we have to get ready. Since we are teachers I figured it was appropriate! The other is about SymbalooEdu.Ĭomments : 1 Comment » Tags: bookmarking, web2.0 Categories : Assessment, Common Core, Courses, Google Apps, Internet Safety, PD Opportunities, SMART Board, Video, Web 2.0 Tools, Websites for your Classroom I’ve included two videos below – one is Symbaloo as explained by a child. And how about the kids? What a great way to teach them organizational skills! You may want a page for just math sites, just LOTE, etc… Maybe just worksheets. Yes, that’s right – Symbaloo lets you have multiple PAGES of bookmarks so you can really be organized. How about Common Core? or Football? or Web 2.0 tools? Well, you can search for what’s called a WEBMIX – all the tiles are already on the page and you may now add that page to your Symbaloo. I make sure Symbaloo is open (I’ve made it my home page), click on add a tile, copy and paste the URL and voila! See the picture below:Īnother really cool thing – let’s say you have a topic of interest and are looking for resources. Let’s say I find a site that I really like. Symbaloo is a place that you can store all of your bookmarks quickly, easily and VISUALLY. If I bookmarked a website, I would have to remember which browser I was using. Have you ever opened a browser only to find that all of your bookmarks are gone? I use three browsers – Firefox, Chrome and Internet Explorer (sometimes I throw in Safari as well). Here’s something you may want to take a look at over the summer. Can you believe it? Two more days and we are at the end of the year!
